One of my favorite people ever, and head of my favorite classic fashion house, Chanel. Even though i hear Karl-bashing, my opinion is not faltered. I adore the ancient being, with his slick-backed ponytail and signature gloves...up to his chic shades- I love Monsieur Lagerfeld.
From his Spring 07 line back to my first discovery of modern Chanel- Fall 05 his has taken the line to new, yet completely classic collections that Madame Coco would have been proud to call her own. I think that he has made such an impact on fashion and has taken over the line very well...compared to John Galliano for Dior. Christian Dior has such a classic heir to his clothing that i believe has been replaced by Mr. Galliano for more hardened, hip rocker-chic looks. You may favor this approach, but i do not believe that Karl has made any such similar changes. I think that staying true to the original designer is what a following lead designer should to, and i think Karl has done just that. I will never believe this: "I wish Mr. Lagerfeld would go back to his crypt and take his filthy paws off the fashion world for good."- I utterly shutter at the very thought...how could anyone think this! haha
“I hate birthdays, ... It's more like a new starting point in New York. For me, it's an evolution. I don't celebrate the past. I like the present and tomorrow.”
“This is what I think is modern. It's like wearing a couture jacket with a pair of jeans.”
“What I hate most in life are people who are not really the peach of the day but who want to be young and sexy. You can fool nobody. There is a moment when you have to accept that somebody else is younger and fresher and hotter. Life is not a beauty contest.”
“Personality begins where comparison ends.”

I'm sorry I offended you with my opinion of Lagerfeld. If I had known there was such a vociferous Karl fan reading my words, I surely never would have typed them! My apologies.
hey rache. i like the new post. read mine.. i LOVE you.
Mon dieu, I did not intend my post to cause such controversy. I'm glad you remain unwavering in your loyalties to your favorites, so many people are influenced by popular opinion.
I admire his work, the way he has taken care of Chanel through this years, keeping the essence... However I'm not a fan.
Hi! I like Mr. Lagerfeld.
Happy New Year!

i find the man truely hilarious. the interview he did with uk elle was so funny. hes a great designer.
oh how i love chanel...those sunglasses and the little white sundress - to die for! tho, mr. lagerfelds' quote about "life is not a beauty contest" is a little contradicting, don't you think? He works in FASHION and chooses the prettier models for goodness sake!
i love how lagerfeld just speaks the truth, he's a funny man. i love the shades, sequined shorts and thoes shoes- to die for! i don't know how anyone could hate lagerfeld so badly, to want him to crawl into a hole and quit fashion. i think he has a brilliant mind!
oh i completly agree Im all for Lagerfelds designs.
yeah, i've lived in LA for 2 and a half years now and it's so much fun...and i really like the spring 07 chanel collection, it's one of my favorites this season :)
i totally and completely agree with you. my mom hosted a new years party in like the 1990s and he had such an air of coolness around him. i know that sounds wierd but i love how he does things that are not meant to impress people and hes unique all on his own. he once said that all he does is reinvent the old into the new. and i couldnt think of a better philosophy
great blog :) ♥
Interesting to know.
